Hovering with Newton

What better way is there to learn about Newton's Laws than to lower some friction and hover? Students experienced these laws from a top a hovercraft. Students were surprised to see the craft launch backward when they throw something heavy forward (3rd law), could feel when friction acted upon them (especially if they were off balance)(1st law), and attemped to see how much force was needed to accelerate the hovercraft (2nd law).
